Hello, I’m M!
First and foremost, I want to thank you, dear friend, for taking the time to read one (or more) of my books. Writing is a very humbling and personal experience, and it’s something I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember. My mom likes to tell the story that I wrote my first book before I could even print the alphabet. I dictated a story about our family cats — she wrote it down, bound it into a book, and I illustrated it. I think I even have that first picture book stashed away somewhere in my attic. One of these days, I’ll have to dust it off and share it with you! In middle school, I loved to write poetry and short stories, even entering several pieces in writing contests along the way. By the time I’d graduated high school, I’d penned a couple of novels. In college, I tried majoring in journalism, but quickly realized writing non-fiction was NOT the same as writing fiction and it saddens me to this day that I didn’t realize creative writing was an actual major. Regardless, I continued my love of creative writing throughout adulthood, but it wasn’t until my children started getting old enough to entertain themselves on the weekends that I found the time and energy to pursue writing as an actual career. And now, because of you, dear reader friend, I get to pursue my passion for telling stories daily. You will never know, how truly, eternally grateful I am to be given that gift. Personally, I am a simple Midwestern girl and the proud wife of a newly-retired UPS man (we met because he was my actual UPS driver—great story, I’ll share it someday, I promise!). I’m a mom of four (two grown-and-flown adult children and twin sixteen-year-olds still at home), plus a stepmom to two wonderful adult daughters. Two of our adult children have recently married, and my oldest son and his wife have just given us our first grandson, whom I absolutely adore. I’m a fur mom to a variety of pets. I love watching football with my family on Sunday afternoons, doing DIY house remodeling projects, gardening in the summer, and canning salsa in the fall!
